A Premier Musical Clinic is designed to enhance your production during the rehearsal phase, focusing on areas such as ensemble numbers, solo performances, and transitions between musical pieces. Our goal is to build upon the style and interpretation that you, the director, have already begun to develop.
The clinics are currently open to high school performing arts programs in the Austin area. If you’re interested in clinics for specialty events, such as show choir performances, showcases, or competitions like the Texas Thespians IE contest, we encourage you to reach out. We have extensive experience in these areas and would love to discuss how we can support your specific needs!
It's our intention to enhance the vision you as the director, and your students have created for the show. Because of this, we view our approach as a true collaborative effort. We carefully craft each clinic based off the identified needs of your individual show. In collaboration with the directorial team, we tailor the clinic structure to address specific areas in which we can make the greatest impact in the time we have.
That being said, each session is guaranteed to focus on enhancing key elements such as vocal performance, technique, harmony, and balance. Additionally, we will work on establishing character, using objectives to drive action and choices, character portrayal, and finding connections on stage. Storytelling and overall show cohesion will also be emphasized to ensure that your production resonates with the audience.
Our goal is to provide a comprehensive approach that elevates every aspect of your show. This approach to our work – prioritizing the skillset of both the vocal AND acting elements – is what has historically made the collaboration between Julie and Chrissy so successful. We're excited to share those techniques with you!
Absolutely! In fact, we highly recommend this approach. The structure of a Premier Musical Clinic is developed in collaboration with you, the director. We prioritize identified areas of the show that need the most attention, whether that’s ensemble work, solo performances, or transitions. We aim to provide the most value to you and your students.
No need to worry about scheduling buses, pulling students from class or working around travel logistics. Premier Musical Clinic comes to you!
High school clinics typically take place on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm at your campus.
For the greatest impact and applicable feedback, we'd ideally work in your performance space.
Once your clinic is scheduled and confirmed (or even before!) we kindly request that directors ensure performance spaces are reserved through their district's facilities department for the clinic in advance. Get that AC scheduled! :)
Clinic dates are typically scheduled between the blocking of the show and the opening night. This timing allows us to effectively build on the artistic vision you've established. If your show is in the early rehearsal stages and requires assistance with foundational rehearsals such as learning music, we can accommodate that as well.
As musical seasons in the area typically overlap and there are a limited amount of Saturdays in a season, we recommend scheduling your clinic as soon as possible.
The cost for a one-day high school clinic is $1,000. We understand that funding for fine arts can be tight, so we’ve priced this clinic at a discounted rate to help alleviate some of the financial burden.
If you're interested in a more extensive experience, we offer a 1.5-day clinic, starting Friday afternoon and continuing through Saturday. The cost for this extended clinic is $1,500.
Contact us via email at PremierMusicalClinic@gmail.com. We recommend reaching out as soon as possible to secure your preferred date and discuss your specific needs.
